review 1: This was one of the best books I’ve read in the last 5 years. “Purple Heart” was about an 18 year old boy who was hospitalized in the army. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and didn’t know what happened the day he was injured. The book tells about his journey to remembering how his friend Ali, who was part of the firefight the day Matt was injured, was killed. This was a really interesting book. It really got me emotionally, as some of the important characters die. The author did a great job of making twists around every corner, keeping your eyes glued to the page. Every scene was described in great detail, making you feel like you’re there. This is a great book for teenagers and young adults. I would recommend it because of it’s mix of action and drama. ... more “Purple Heart” was a fantastic book. It provided a great mix drama and action. review 2: This has been one of my favorite books to read. I loved how the author went into so much detail. My favorite part is when goes in to get questioned. I also like that Meghan Finnerty the counselor told the people that were questioning Matt that he was not a reliable source to answer questions about his incident out in the field. He could have been in big trouble because he supposedly shot a civilian which was not true. It was actually Justin that shot Ali and the reason he did was because he was an enemy sympathizer. Which means that he was relaying information to where the American soldiers were so the insurgents could shoot the American soldiers. Ali was a street kid that Matt and Justin had befriended but then when they find out that he is working with the enemy soldiers they end up shooting and killing him in the middle of a firefight. It is very sad because the only reason Ali was relaying info to the enemy soldiers was because they bought him soccer cleats and he wanted them because he was a good soccer player. Other than that I really like the book and I would encourage others to read it because it is a very good book. less

This was a very good book, it had really got me thinking about events from earlier in the book.
A solid read without too much of the cursing and misogyny you often find in war books.
so far im only on pg43 or so but i really think its a good page turner.
Good read, but the ending was a bit abrupt for me.
